QotD: High School Romance

What was the best date you went on in high school?

For a month in my Junior year of high school I had a real "bad boy" jerk of a boyfriend, on Valentines day he and his friend picked me up to take me shopping at the mall. I thought it was awfully sweet since he said I could pick out whatever I wanted. Little did I know he actually meant he would steal for me whatever I wanted! I was burning mad and refused to go into the mall with him. He left and stole a few hundred dollars worth of merchandise for himself and when he came back to the car I made absolutly sure he knew I was angry. He sat in the backseat with me as his friend drove us home and tried his best to be romantic but I wasn't having it, I was disgusted. When we got home he told his friend to drop him off at different girl's house because and I quote "If I'm not getting any from my girlfriend on Valentines day I'll get it from someone else". As you can imagine that was the end of our relationship. His friend drove me home and made sure that I was alright. An hour passed as I sat home alone on Valentines day when to my complete surprise his friend came back dressed in a suit with two dozen roses and a box of chocolates. He said I didn't deserve to be treated like that and he wanted to take me out on a proper date to celebrate Valentines day. This friend of my now ex-boyfriend did one of the sweetest things a teenage girl could have ever imagined and he didn't expect anything out of it, it was all just for friendship. It was the best date I went on in high school.

I always appreciated what he did for me that day. We stayed close friends, even attended college together until the horrible day he passed away in a car accident. He was only 20 years old and there is no doubt in my mind that the world lost a great person that day.
