What's one thing you can't say no to?
I can't say no to HUGS! I'm quick to admit that I am a hugger. I come from a family of huggers and spent my childhood surrounded by open armed friends and family. As an adult I realized that not everyone is as fond of hugs as I am, what had seemed so normal to me was taboo for others. I've learned to refrain from hugging when I meet non-hugger types but nothing beats connecting with a new friend and a big happy hug! I'll never say no to a hug!
Another comical website error page from Fandango. Apparently I'm starting a collection of creative error messages, woops, bear mauling, octopus...
Loathes:
- The fact that I haven't done a Tuesday write up in a long, long time.
- My car's broken windshield, stupid pebble!
- Being allergic to Mosquitoes.
- Database glitches.
- Free catered breakfast from my office building, even if it is... only once a year.
- Not having television, it's bliss.
- Saying hello new giant ikea sofa, goodbye tiny hand-me-down loveseat.
- Watching Cursive in concert tonight, it's been six years since I've seen them live.
- The sound of my sewing machine being productive... chikchikchikchikchick.
- Opening weekend for Miyazaki's newest film "Ponyo".
- Prepping the house for our new roommate.
- How my vegetable garden is producing more veggies than I can eat!
- Riding my bike to the Woodland Arts Fair this weekend to see Ben Sollee's free concert and support my local art community.
I know it's one of those old standbys for entertainment but every few years or so I get an itch to ditch the television...
We came home yesterday with a brand new gigantic and gorgeous Ikea sofa and as we set it up in the living room I realized the TV location was going to be a problem. I toyed with the idea as I rearranged the furniture and quickly decided it was time to put away the TV. We only subscribe to 15 cable channels so honestly not as big of an adjustment as you'd think and thanks to the magic of the internet I can still plug in to the TV world whenever I want. It will find a place in the attic just in case we need it later and I'll keep subscribing to the cable service in case Mike, the new roommate, would like to have a TV in his bedroom.
So what am I going to do with all of this spare productive time? I have a ton of craft projects to finish, a knitted gift for my second cousin (the newest baby in the family), curtains to hem, making pillowcases for the new sofa, there is a new painting technique I'd like to learn and the summer garden is always keeps me busy. Plus, I can't wait to start reading again, I've got to dust off that library card and pick up a few good books. Any recommendations?
We took a tour of our friends new apartment yesterday and as I passed the bathroom I saw his cat Mies hop up on the toilet, he turned his head looked right at us as if to say "watch me" and went ahead to do his business. Jon grabbed his camera phone and took this photographic evidence. Donovan has successfully trained his cat to use the toilet... awesome!
Another comical website error page from istockphoto, although admittedly more friendly, I'm not sure if this one beats the old octopus 503 error.
