I'm never going to be able to concentrate with a woot-off going on.
Then I received this message:
"People ahead of you in line are getting their orders processed. If some of them get denied, it will free up stock for the next in line."
"Just check your account page later. If the sale's not listed there, it means we ran out of stuff."
I'm not holding my breath.
<sigh>
This past weekend I caught Jon inching his way towards the electronics department. He had been hinting that he wanted a new mp3 player and that my 128mb six year old p.o.s just wasn't cutting it anymore (my words). I had told him the he wasn't going to be able to find one in a retail store that we can afford but he insisted and gave me his "let me just look" face. He flipped packages, checked boxes and finally stopped with a sigh, because in his hand was another 128mb p.o.s for thirty dollars. He turns to me as I try my best to hid my "I was right" smile and we lock arms and walk away.
For the next few days this bothered me because lately I find myself saying no more often than yes. I had to remind myself that we had spent close to $300 on concert tickets this month. I knew we didn't have the extra cash to blow on a pricey 8 gig player.
The next morning I'm doing my usual online rounds, reading blogs, checking news, email, and woot. Would you believe that right then, like a message from the tech gods, is a 6 gig Sansa player for under 50 dollars. Shocked, I had to make a decision quick because the buy button was jumping around, which means they will sell out soon. Wooters know if they sell out, you will probably never see the item listed again. So jumped on it. It was just too cheep to pass, plus I had been planning on purchasing a congratulatory gift for Jon for when he gets accepted to the architecture program.
So this swanky new media player will arrive in the mail in a week or so, I'll do all of the work for him and transfer all of his audio and video files, along with a special congrats message that I've made for him. Because I'm just that sure he will make it into the program.
Shhh.... don't tell him about this, its a surprise.
This vox entry will be hidden by the end of the day.
